Wristwise ("the app") is an independent app for Readwise. This policy explains what the app does with your information.
The short version
- Wristwise has no servers of its own and no analytics or advertising.
- The only place your data goes is Readwise (readwise.io), to load your Daily Review and to save the favorites you mark.
- Your Readwise access token is stored in the keychain of your iPhone and Apple Watch, and nowhere else.
- If you sign in to Readwise in the iPhone app, that web session stays on your iPhone and is used only to mark your reviews complete on Readwise.
What the app stores
- Readwise access token. Stored in the keychain on your iPhone, and sent to your own Apple Watch with Apple's WatchConnectivity, where it is also kept in the keychain. It is never sent to the developer or to anyone other than Readwise, where it authenticates your requests.
- Today's review. The highlights in today's Daily Review, any extra highlights you asked for, which of them you have favorited, and how far through the review you are. Stored on your Apple Watch so the app opens quickly and the watch-face complication can show your progress. Replaced by the next day's review.
- Your streak. The dates on which you finished a review, for up to a year, stored on your Apple Watch.
- Readwise web sign-in (optional). If you use Sign In to Readwise in the iPhone app, Readwise's sign-in cookies are kept in the app's web storage on your iPhone. The app uses them only to open Readwise's review page so your review is marked complete. Sign Out of Readwise deletes them.
What the app sends, and to whom
- Readwise (https://readwise.io). The app fetches your Daily Review, the tags on those highlights, and, when you ask for more, random highlights and their books. It adds or removes the "favorite" tag when you tap the heart. If you're signed in to Readwise on the iPhone, it opens Readwise's review page to mark the review complete. Everything travels over HTTPS. Your use of Readwise is governed by Readwise's own privacy policy and terms.
Notifications
If the iPhone can't mark a finished review complete, it shows a local notification that opens the review in Safari. Notifications are created on your iPhone and nothing is sent to a server.
What the developer collects
Nothing from the app. The developer runs no backend and receives no personal data, usage data, or diagnostics from the app.
If you write through the contact form on this website, your message (and your email address, if you give one) is delivered to the developer by Web3Forms, and used only to reply to you.
Deleting your data
Tap Disconnect in the iPhone app to remove the token from both devices, and Sign Out of Readwise to remove the web sign-in, or delete the app. Highlights and favorites in your Readwise account are managed in Readwise.
Children
The app is rated 4+ and collects no personal information.
